NEWCOMER WELCOME: ABOUT STEPSPONSORDA

If you want to participate in a StepSponsorDA Workshop, you're in the right place. We’re glad you found us. In this workshop, we who came to Debtors Anonymous before you found a solution to the misery of compulsively debting. Those of us who fully participated were able to miraculously heal from this energy draining behavior. If you are ready for a change, read on.

The purpose of the StepSponsorDA Workshop is to learn precisely what our approved DA and AA literature says about the nature of our disease; obtain directions and prayers indicated in the Twelve Steps and DA’s Tools; grow in spiritual awareness and support each other in the practice of these principles in all our affairs. We take the steps rapidly, applying the experience, strength, and hope found in the literature to our own recovery and the sponsorship of other members. We try to carry this message to the compulsive debtor who still suffers by learning to sponsor the newcomer via the literature and expanding the culture of service in Debtors Anonymous.

NEWCOMERS: ABOUT THE DEBTORS ANONYMOUS FELLOWSHIP

Debtors Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share with each other their experience of change, the strength and benefits from those changes, and hope that change and healing are sustainable. We come together to solve the problem we have in common and help each other to recover from compulsive debting. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop incurring unsecured debt. There are no charges, costs, dues, or fees for DA membership or this workshop. We support our fellowship through our voluntary contributions. Debtors Anonymous is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. We do not wish to engage in any controversy; we neither endorse nor oppose any outside issues or causes. Our primary purpose is threefold: to stop incurring unsecured debt, to share our experience with the newcomer, and to reach out to other debtors.

Inclusivity Statement

The following Inclusivity Statement was approved by the General Service Board in July, 2022 and has been added to the 2022 Debtors Anonymous Manual of Service:

Whatever your story, you are welcome in Debtors Anonymous. In D.A., we celebrate the rich, diverse experiences of people of all identities. We embrace members of any race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental ability, socio-economic status, religious, spiritual, or philosophical expression, or any other trait. Our various experiences benefit our recovery, so we encourage all members to value differences and actively participate in making D.A. an inclusive fellowship. Together, we create accessible and welcoming spaces for anyone with the desire to stop incurring debt, so that we may all recover one day at a time.

© COPYRIGHT JILL C. P. Do not duplicate without permission. The GreenBack Book Study Guide to existing DA Literature is a Rough Draft and is not DA World Service Conference Approved as of July 2021. At this time, StepSponsorDA group #14261 will exercise 4th tradition autonomy and continue to use GreenBack Book Study Guide for its existing workshops, as we have been doing since 2007.

As of the end of April 2021, the Debtors Anonymous World Service Conference has approved and issued a new study guide, different from the GreenBack Book. StepSponsorDA daily morning call members formed a committee to review and evaluate the new guide and made a determination to continue using the GreenBack Book as its primary study guide. The new 'DA 12 Steps Study Guide' will be recommended to current morning call members as supplemental material.
